F5 BIG-IP Virtual Edition (VE) on Megaport’s MVE delivers advanced application delivery, traffic management, and security capabilities directly on Megaport’s global private SDN. By integrating F5 BIG-IP VE with MVE, you can deploy a virtual application delivery controller (ADC) without the need for physical hardware, shipping delays, or data center rack space.
Megaport provides the network underlay, while F5 BIG-IP VE manages application traffic, load balancing, and security policies. You use the Megaport Portal to create and order MVE instances and establish Virtual Cross Connects (VXCs) to cloud on-ramps and other services on the Megaport SDN.
F5 BIG-IP Virtual Edition
F5 BIG-IP VE provides the same advanced traffic management, security, and application optimization capabilities as the F5 physical appliances. Key capabilities include:
- Local Traffic Manager (LTM) – Distribute traffic across servers to optimize performance and availability using intelligent load balancing.
- BIG-IP DNS (Global Traffic Manager) – Manage DNS-based global traffic distribution to direct users to the closest or best-performing application instance.

BIG-IP VE supports throughput up to 10 Gbps depending on the license tier, making it suitable for demanding L7 application workloads.
