Customer Onboarding

This topic lists finance forms that could be required for your business.

If you are looking for additional information, contact Megaport Accounts Receivable.

Onboarding letters

W-8

The W-8 form (Certificate of Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding and Reporting Entities) is used to confirm that a vendor is a foreign person and must be provided even if the vendor is not claiming a tax treaty reduction or exemption from withholding.

Megaport is required to provide this form when billing a US entity (local Megaport entity billing a foreign US entity; for example, when Megaport Singapore bills a US customer). These forms are required to be signed and updated annually.

W-9

US businesses use IRS form W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) to obtain information from vendors that they hire as independent contractors. Businesses use the name, address, and Social Security number (or tax identification number) that contractors provide on the W-9 form to complete the information return. Neither the sender nor the recipient should send a copy to the IRS.

Certificate of Residence (COR)

A COR is a letter certifying that you are a tax resident in Singapore for the purpose of claiming benefits under the Avoidance of Double Tax Agreements (DTAs).
