Creating an MVE Integrated with Cisco Overview

This topic provides an overview of the deployment methods used to create an MVE integrated with Cisco.

You can configure the MVE in one of two modes:

  • Create an SD-WAN MVE in vManage. Cisco SD-WAN MVE is integrated with Megaport. Once you have a Megaport account, all further interactions are done through the Cisco centralized management console called vManage NMS. For more information, see Creating a Cisco SD-WAN MVE in vManage.

Or

  • Configure the MVE for routing using the Megaport Portal. In autonomous mode, the MVE uses Cisco Catalyst 8000V Edge software to act as a virtualized standalone router, providing full control of the cloud provider to users with advanced routing expertise. MVE in autonomous mode supports all advanced routing features, including multi virtual routing and forwarding (VRF). After provisioning the MVE in autonomous mode, you can use existing policy management, CLI scripts, and other legacy solutions such as Cisco Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN). This provisioning method does not require SD-WAN. For more information, see Creating a Cisco MVE in Autonomous Mode.
