Converting a non-LAG Port to a LAG Port
To convert a Port that isn’t part of a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) to a LAG Port, you have two options:
- Create a new Port with LACP enabled. Re-route the VXC traffic from the non-LAG Port to the new LACP-enabled Port. Terminate the non-LAG Port.
- Create a new Port with LACP enabled. Send a request to Megaport to manually convert the existing non-LAG Port.
Option 1: Create a new Port with LACP enabled
In this procedure, you terminate the existing Port and re-create it as the member of a LAG in the Megaport Portal.
- Log in to the Megaport Portal and choose Services.
- Create one or more LACP-enabled Ports.
For details on how to enable LACP on a Port, see Creating a Port. - Once you receive the Letter of Authorization (LOA), create a Support ticket to ensure that the new LACP-enabled Port(s) are on the same device as a currently deployed Port.
You can create a Support ticket by emailing Megaport Support or using the Megaport Portal chat feature. - Re-route the traffic from the existing VXCs to the new LACP-enabled Port.
We recommend that you take a staggered approach and move the VXCs one-by-one.
- Terminate the original non-LACP Port and its VXCs.
- Create a Support ticket using email or the Megaport Portal chat feature to assign the second Port to the same device and ensure that it uses the same LOA.
Option 2: Send a conversion request to Port
In this procedure, you terminate or move the Port’s VXCs to another Port and then send us a request to manually convert the Port to LACP-enabled.
- Log in to the Megaport Portal and choose Services.
- Create one or more LACP-enabled Ports.
For details on how to enable LACP on a new Port, see Creating a Port.
- When you receive the LOA, create a Support ticket to ensure that the new LACP-enabled Port(s) are on the same device as a currently deployed Port.
You can create a Support ticket by emailing Megaport Support or using the Megaport Portal chat feature. - Create VXCs on the new LACP-enabled Port, duplicating the VXCs from the non-LAG Port.
- Re-route the traffic from the existing VXCs to the LACP-enabled Port.
We recommend that you take a staggered approach and move the VXCs one-by-one.
- Terminate all VXCs on the existing Port.
- Create a Support ticket requesting that Megaport add the Port to the new LAG.
Megaport converts the existing Port to a member of the LAG.
