An block is a public IPv4 subnet that you order, manage, and link to your services in the Megaport Portal. IP Address is available as a standalone product, alongside Ports, MCRs, MVEs, and NAT Gateways. You do not need an existing Megaport Internet connection to order an IP Address block. You can link the block to one or more Megaport Internet connections in the same metro during ordering or at any time afterward to advertise the addresses.

How it works

An IP Address block is available across a metro rather than being tied to a specific data center or connection. When you order a block, you select a metro and subnet size, and Megaport provisions the block automatically, typically within seconds. No manual approval is required. After a block is live, you can:
  • Link it to one or more Megaport Internet connections in the same metro. A block can be linked to multiple connections, and a connection can have multiple blocks linked to it. For more information, see Linking and Unlinking Megaport Internet Connections.
  • Request a new IP Address block directly from an existing Megaport Internet connection, on the Megaport Internet tab of the Connection Details page, instead of starting from Add Services.
  • Rename the block, update its resource tags, or change its linked connections at any time.
After you order a block, its metro and subnet size cannot be changed. To use a different metro or subnet size, order a new IP Address block. If you delete an IP Address block, any linked Megaport Internet connections are automatically unlinked before the block is deleted. The addresses return to the available pool, so you might not be able to order the same range again.

Resource limits

By default, the resource limit for IP Address blocks is 0 (Zero). To adjust the limit, contact Megaport Support or your Customer Success Manager. For more information, see Limits and Quotas.

IP Address terms

IP Address blocks are ordered on a minimum 12-month contract term. By default, the block automatically renews for another 12-month term when the contract ends. You can turn off automatic renewal during ordering, or later, so the block moves to month-to-month billing instead. If you terminate the block before the end of its term, an early termination fee (ETF) applies. You can waive the ETF by ordering an eligible replacement service.
