This topic describes how to order an IP Address block on the Megaport network. IP Address is available as a standalone product, and blocks are provisioned automatically after you place your order. You can also request a new IP Address block directly from an existing Megaport Internet connection. The request takes you to the same ordering flow described below.
Before proceeding, ensure that you have set up your Megaport Portal account. For more information, see Setting Up a Megaport Account.
To order an IP Address block
  1. In the , go to the Services page.
  2. Click Add Services, then select IP Address.
  3. Specify the block details:
    • Block Name — Specify a name for the block that is easily identifiable, particularly if you plan on ordering more than one.
    • Service Level Reference (optional) — Specify a unique identifying number for your Megaport service to be used for billing purposes, such as a cost center number, unique customer ID, or purchase order number. The service level reference number appears for each service under the Product section of the invoice. You can also edit this field for an existing service.
  4. Select a location. Use the Search field, or select a region and then a metro.
  5. Select the IP version and block size:
    • IP Version — IPv4 is currently the only available option.
    • Block Size — Select a subnet size from /30 to /24. Each option shows the number of addresses in the block and its monthly rate.
  6. IP Address orders are for a minimum 12-month contract term. Review the Contract Term information, and turn off Contract Renewal if you do not want the block to automatically renew for another 12-month term when the contract ends.
  7. Complete the Usage & Justification section:
    • Purpose — Enter a description of the intended purpose of the block, for example, Mail Server or Load Balancer.
    • Projected Duration — Select 12 Months, 24 Months, or 36 Months.
    • Additional Remarks (optional) — Enter any additional information that further explains the need for IP address space.
The contract term for an IP Address block is fixed at 12 months. When ordering, you must select a projected duration of 12, 24, or 36 months. The projected duration does not need to match the contract term. Megaport uses the projected duration to allocate additional public IP addresses, and you must confirm that you intend to use the requested allocation within the selected timeframe.
  8. (Optional) Under Link Internet VXCs, select any live Megaport Internet connections in the selected metro that you want to link to the block.
  9. Review the terms and conditions.
  10. (Optional) Click + Add New Tag to specify any resource tags for the IP Address block. Enter a Key and Value for the tag.
    • Key — Specify a lowercase string with a maximum length of 128 characters. Valid characters are letters, numbers, and - . _ : / \
    • Value — Specify a string with a maximum length of 256 characters. Valid characters are letters, numbers, spaces, and - . _ : @ / + \
Never include sensitive information in a resource tag. Sensitive information includes commands that return existing tag definitions and information that identifies a person or company.
  11. Click Add IP Address Block. The block is added to your cart under Configured Services.
  12. Click Review Order to proceed through the checkout process, or click Save to save the configured services before placing the order.
  13. Review the Important Information section and confirm agreement with the Service Agreements. If you do not have a promotion code, skip to the Order Now step. If you do have a promotion code, enter it into the Enter discount code field then click Apply. Alternatively, if a code already appears in the Discounts field, verify it is correct and click Apply. The promotional discount appears below the Standard Term discount. This discount is not reflected in the Monthly Rate shown here, it is applied at the time of billing. If an invalid or expired code causes an error with your order, contact your Megaport Account Manager for a replacement code. If you entered an incorrect promotion code, you can remove it by clicking Remove.
In addition to entering a promotion code manually, there are two other ways to apply promotion codes.
    • Auto-apply — Megaport automatically applies the promotion code to your order. It appears automatically on the Checkout page.
    • Manual list — Eligible promotion codes appear at checkout for any applicable services in your cart. You can then select and apply them.
IP Address blocks do not receive a Standard Term discount. If your cart contains only an IP Address block, the Standard Term discount does not appear at checkout. It appears only when your cart also contains services that receive a term-based discount.
  14. Click Order Now. The IP Address block is provisioned automatically, typically within seconds.
