For example, if you place your order on January 15, your first invoice will be issued on February 1, and the charge will cover the period from January 15 to January 31. Summary of service type and billing:
- Metro VXC — Flat rate
- Local IX — $0
- Non-metro (Zone and Interzone) VXC — Usage based billing
- Remote IX — Usage based billing
- Megaport Internet — Usage based billing
If any contract term changes occurred within the month, billing will reflect a sum of the charges. Megaport incorporates a cap of 28 days per month to calculate the percentage allocation of the rate charged.
DDoS billing
protection is billed as an add-on service for each eligible Megaport Internet connection. The monthly rate is based on the rate limit of the connection. You can view the DDoS Protection Monthly Rate in the Megaport Internet connection summary during the connection creation process. DDoS is enabled at the account level. When you enable DDoS protection, all eligible Megaport Internet connections under your account will be protected and billed automatically. Any new eligible connections created after the service is enabled will also be protected and billed automatically. When DDoS protection is applied to a new connection, you will receive an email notification showing the details and the price. On your monthly invoice, the DDoS add-on charge will be listed separately for each eligible Megaport Internet connection.DDoS protection and discounting
DDoS protection is charged as a separate add-on for each protected Megaport Internet connection. The add-on inherits eligible discounts from its underlying Megaport Internet connection, so discounting is assessed per connection, not as a single discount across the DDoS subscription. For existing connections, inheritance is limited to discounts the connection already holds.- Partner, Wholesale, and Strategic discounts are eligible to reduce the DDoS add-on charge.
- Percentage Promotional and Demo discounts are also eligible. Their final value is calculated at billing time, so checkout identifies them as Calculated at billing time rather than deducting them from the displayed monthly total.
- Contract Term discounts, Fixed-Price Overrides, Cash Bucket, and Fixed Amount discounts are not inherited.
Viewing billing details
The Billing page shows billing details for the selected connection. You can view upcoming estimated bills and any changes in the configured speed over a given month for a VXC, Megaport Internet connection, or IX connection.If your account is managed through a Megaport partner, the partner manages the billing. Contact your partner for your billing details.
- Log in to the and choose Services.
- Click the gear icon next to the connection.
- On the Connection Details page, click Billing. The Billing graph shows the configured speed over the current billing month and the Estimated Next Bill. The Estimated Next Bill for the current month is updated with each change to the service. The shaded area of the graph shows the configured speeds for the portion of the month that has already passed. The dotted line shows the expected speed for the rest of the billing month, assuming that no changes are made. To view details for a previous month, click the Billing Month and select a month.
Billing Details table
The Billing Details table shows the configured speed for the connection, as well as any changes made to the speed during the selected month. Each speed change creates a new entry in the table. Each entry includes these billing details:- Speed (Mbps) — The configured speed for the connection.
- Start/End — The date range that the connection was configured at this speed. Time is displayed as UTC+10 (Brisbane time).
- Duration — The length of time that the connection is expected to be configured at the current speed. When viewing the current month, the duration for the last configured speed is extended to the end of the 28-day billing cycle, and the price is calculated based on that duration.
- Price — The cost of the connection in the market-enabled currency. The price is based on the amount of time that the connection was configured at that speed.
Cancellation
You can cancel a VXC, Megaport Internet connection, or IX connection at any time. Canceling a service on a contract term will result in an early termination fee (ETF) equivalent to 100% of the remainder of the term.
