# Testing Configurations in the Staging Environment

> This help topic describes the staging environment for testing.

You can test any action in the staging environment. All actions mirror the production system, but services will not be deployed and you will not be billed for any activity.

The Portal staging environment is available here: [https://portal-staging.megaport.com](https://portal-staging.megaport.com)

The API staging environment is available here: `https://api-staging.megaport.com`

You use your production credentials to log in to the staging environment and order or edit services. New user accounts take 24 hours before they are available for use in staging.

The staging data is overwritten every 24 hours and synchronized with the production environment.
This means your staging portal account reflects both your production data and the staging services created that day, but any services or user accounts created in the staging environment will be overwritten by the sync and disappear the following day.
