# Amazon Bilateral Peering on Extreme IX

> This help topic describes how to request a bilateral BGP session with Amazon over Extreme IX.

The process for requesting a bilateral BGP session with Amazon depends on whether you already have an established session with Amazon at another location.

## New members with no established bilateral BGP sessions with Amazon

To request direct peering with Amazon over an existing Extreme IX link, send the following email to Amazon:

* To: `peering-india@amazon.com`
* Subject: `Direct Amazon Bilateral Peering over Extreme IX <Location> for <your Company name>`
* Body:

Dear Amazon Peering team,
We would like to Peer with you over Extreme IX in <Location>.
Kindly find the details below:
ASN: --> your AS Number
Network name: --> Your Network Name
Contact name and email: --> Contact Details
v4 address: - this is your Extreme IX IP
v4 prefix count: --> all of your prefix counts (number of /24 IP Pools)
NOC contact: --> your NOC contact details
Kindly please tell us further steps.
```

## Existing members with one or more established bilateral BGP sessions with Amazon

If you already have one or more bilateral BGP sessions established with Amazon, use Amazon's peering portal to register more requests. Do not send an email to Amazon's peering team.

1. Go to [Amazon's PeeringDB entry](https://www.peeringdb.com/net/1418).
2. On the PeeringDB entry, click the link to the [Amazon Peering Portal](https://interconnect.amazon/).
3. Authorize Amazon Peering. The portal requests these permissions: OpenID Connect scope, user profile, email address, and list of user networks and permissions.
4. After you authorize the request, the portal takes you to the Amazon Peering Portal.
5. Click **Create New Peering Session**.
6. Complete the four steps in the peering session creation process:
   * **Select Peering Endpoints** -- Choose the endpoints that match your peering needs and network location.
   * **Verify the Sessions to Create** -- Confirm that the suggested sessions align with your network's presence on the exchange and with Amazon's peering policy.
   * **Verify Contact Details** -- Select who to notify when the request completes. These contacts are also used if any issues arise during the process.
   * **Review and Create** -- Confirm the sessions to create and review any more request data.
