# Terminating an AWS Interconnect

> This help topic describes how to terminate an AWS Interconnect directly from the Megaport Portal.

> [!NOTE]
>
> AWS Interconnect from Megaport is in Preview. Features, supported locations, and connection speeds are limited during the Preview and are subject to change. For more information, see [Preview release](/aws-interconnect#preview-release).

You can terminate an AWS Interconnect directly from the Megaport Portal.

When you terminate an AWS Interconnect, AWS removes its side of the connection. You do not need to delete anything in the AWS console.

Terminating an AWS Interconnect on a contract term will result in an early termination fee (ETF) equivalent to 100% of the remainder of the term. You can waive the ETF yourself by ordering an eligible replacement service. For more information, see [Managing Early Termination Fees (ETF Management)](/finance/etf-management).

**To terminate an AWS Interconnect**

1. In the Megaport Portal, go to the **Services** page.

2. In the Actions section, click **More** next to the AWS Interconnect you want to terminate, then click **Delete**.

   The Terminate Services window appears. Early termination fees will be shown here, if applicable.

3. In the **Cancellation Reason** drop-down list, select the reason that you are terminating the AWS Interconnect. We use this information to help us improve your customer experience.

   These options are available:

   * Moving to a Cloud-Native Solution
   * Changing Data Centers
   * Ordered in Error or Reordering
   * Proof of Concept / Test
   * Project Ended
   * Switching to Alternative Provider
   * Pricing
   * Product Performance

   > [!NOTE]
   >
   > * **Ordered in Error or Reordering** should be selected if you have upgraded or downgraded the service speed and re-ordered.
   > * **Reason not Listed** should be selected to specify a different reason to those listed. Use the free text field to explain the reason for terminating the service. This field has a maximum of 400 characters.
   > * You can also provide additional details in the free text field for any of the cancellation reasons.

4. Click **Yes, Terminate Service** to confirm the AWS Interconnect termination, or click **No, Keep Services** to cancel.

   The AWS Interconnect and its associated VXCs are deleted from the Megaport network, and AWS removes its side of the connection.
